Current research shows positive physiological changes both with microdoses of lithium and with high pharmacological doses. Since the biochemical mechanism of action is not yet fully understood, lithium is referred to as a \u201cpotentially essential\u201d trace element.<br \/>\n<br class=\"avia-permanent-lb\" \/>Lithium used in laboratory-based nutritional therapy is associated with a positive effect on the central nervous system. It is said to counteract neurodegenerative effects and improve cognitive function, which is why it is currently also the subject of dementia research.
